A newborn baby may need NICU care when the baby is premature, has difficulty breathing, is underweight for its age, has an infection, or had complications during delivery. The NICU offers special medical facilities to newborn babies who may need special attention.
Jaundice, difficulty in breathing, infections, feeding difficulties, and low weight are some of the common medical conditions that may occur in newborn babies. Proper medical attention for these conditions helps to treat the newborn babies effectively.
Premature babies grow and develop normally if they receive proper medical care, nutrition, and monitoring of their development during early life.
Parents can ensure their newborn baby's health by providing proper feeding, check-ups, immunization, proper hygiene, and following proper advice regarding newborn baby care.
Parents should consult a doctor if their newborn baby is experiencing difficulty in feeding, fever, difficulty in breathing, vomiting, drowsiness, or if the baby's skin is turning yellow.
