Interventional Cardiology consultant of SMH, Dr. Swapnil. S. Garde informed us that our cardiac team treated the patient with special therapy by installing a combo device CRT-D due to which both the chambers of the patient were synchronized and saved his life. Our team installed the CRT-D in an operating time of about an hour and a half. A combo device CRT-D was installed and the three device leads were connected to the patient's heart. The patient's problem was complex and could not be solved with single or double leads of the pacemaker due to which the combo device CRT-D device was installed. In India, the ratio of CRT-D to pacemaker is very low making it a rare and unique procedure and this can be transforming in terms of quality of life. The team faced difficulty in getting this device installed as the third lead was coming out again and again due to difficult anatomy. To overcome this complexity, our team deployed a stent using a special technique.
